25 September 2017-Tax Check Off Donation $34,079 from 2016 Returns

Published on: 9/27/2017

JUST RECEIVED from the GA Dept of Revenue, the proceeds from the Tax Check-Off option on Form 500 from 2016!

$34,079.00!  This is a significant donation for the Foundation and serves as reminder to all Georgia Tax Payers that our organization is one of seven charities approved by the Georgia Legislature to collect donations from individuals when filing their state taxes.  The trend for donations continues downward from year to year, in part, because more and more people are filing online and the user has to look for the special interest section on Form 500 or 500 EZ.

Cumulatively, however,  the Foundation has received $914,583.00 since 2005 and donated funds continue to be directed to its Emergency Relief Program. Examples of assistance include payments to avoid eviction, foreclosure, utilities disconnection and repossession of vehicles as many emergencies are based on job loss.  We have helped victims of house and apartment fires, tornados, floods and other disasters.  Emergency travel and funeral expenses, as well as assistance to Guard Members injured during deployment and training, temporary pay problems and more are examples of the multiple requests for assistance that we receive each week.
