Taste of the South

Taste of the South celebrated 35 years with A Salute to the Stars and Stripes Gala on Saturday, April 1, 2017. This very special event supported military and veterans based charities and sponsored by GPHA, the Coca-Cola Company, Southern Company, Volkswagen Group of America and many other dedicated contributors. This year’s featured charity was the Patriot Foundation, located in Pinehurst, NC. Established in 2003, the Patriot Foundation is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit committed to providing college scholarships to children of servicemen and women who have been killed, wounded, or injured since 9/11.

TOTS also supported a DC based charity, Hero Dogs, Inc., which is committed to improve the quality of life of our nation’s heroes by raising, training and placing service dogs and other highly skilled canines, free of charge, with lifetime support of the partnerships.

A portion of the proceeds raised at this awesome event will also be donated to 12 additional charities across the South and includes the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation, Inc. as the designated charity partner in Georgia! The Foundation is honored to be selected by the 2017 State Committee and greatly appreciates the opportunity to be part of the Taste of the South!

Special thanks to Maggie Newton, Executive Member; Mary Cromley, Chairman and Lydia Pappas, Vice Chairman for Georgia!

On behalf of the Foundation, COL Reg Neal was able to attend the Gala!  He reported that the event was awesome as evidenced by his picture!
