State of Georgia Form 500 Tax Check-Off 2021 for the Georgia National Guard Foundation!

Published on: 3/31/2022

THE GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD FAMILY SUPPORT FOUNDATION, INC. is a self-funded non-profit 501 (c) (3) tax exempt corporation established in 1994 and governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. Its primary mission is to provide emergency relief assistance to the members and families of the Georgia National Guard and full-time federal/state civilian employees of the Georgia Department of Defense. Although not a military organization, the Foundation is recognized as an official support organization of the Georgia National Guard.

A simple “check-off” box on the Georgia income tax return allows taxpayers to make donations that will be automatically deducted from their refund or included in their payment.  The check-off box was added to Georgia state income tax forms by the Georgia Legislature in 2005 as a show of support for the Georgia National Guard.

Examples of assistance include payments to avoid eviction, foreclosure, disconnection of utilities and repossession of vehicles. We have helped victims of house and apartment fires, tornados, floods and other disasters.  Emergency travel and funeral expenses, as well as assistance to Guard members injured during deployment and training, temporary pay problems and more are examples of the multiple requests for assistance that we receive each week.

The Foundation has provided assistance to over 3,600 military members and their families with more than $3.2 million dollars in assistance.  The tax check-off for 2021 is a great way for every Tax Payer in Georgia to help the Soldiers and Airmen of the Georgia National Guard face with unexpected emergencies and financial hardships!  Thank you for your support!
