Georgia National Guard State CSM Shawn Lewis and the E-9 Council of Georgia organized a Memorial Designator for the Fallen GA ARNG Soldiers at the Warriors Walk at Fort Stewart. The Warriors Walk commemorates soldiers who lost their lives to the War on Terror. It is the field where Soldiers march prior to going to battle and where they are welcomed when they return home. It also serves as a place to honor dignitaries and hold special events. SPC Alexei Joya was charged with the task of finding stones suitable for engraving 48th IBCT patches on them as a way to recognize 24 of the Fallen Soldiers who were 48th Brigade Soldiers.
Earth Products, a local Marietta landscape supply store since 1985, deals with stone and many other landscape materials. After SPC Joya finished hand picking the stones, he attempted to pay for them. However, Brian, the store manager of Earth Products, said the stones were free of charge and it was their honor to contribute to the Military’s Fallen.
